Workplace Ergonomic Assessment
With hybrid working being the way of the future, correct posture & positioning can increase work output & productivity.
What is an ergonomic assessment?
It is the analysis of an individual at their workplace to identify risk factors that may lead to musculoskeletal (muscle, bone, joint) disorders, to optimise correct working postures and equipment for the benefit of the employee and employer.
The benefits of an ergonomic assessment include:
Improved Health - by preventing awkward stresses and strains placed upon the body to reduce tension in the postural muscles.
Reducing Pain - by improving the bodies alignment, resulting in an enhanced posture, to allow the muscles of the body to function correctly and efficiently.
Enhanced Mental Health and Wellbeing - allows the person to feel more at ease with a positive mindset towards their work, due to a reduced amount of pain and discomfort experienced.
Prevention of Postural Issues - by correcting the body and equipment positioning, before problems arise.
Enhanced Work Output (both quality and quantity) - with improved focus and productivity levels, resulting in reduced concerns of the physical difficulties.
The components of an assessment may include;
Chair suitability
Desk set up and VDU positioning
Posture
Useful equipment
Self-help advice e.g. exercises, regular breaks etc.
Correct posture and positioning can increase work output and productivity!
